Whether you’re an out-of-stater looking for somewhere breathtaking to visit, or a Floridian looking to get away to somewhere beautiful in your own backyard, it doesn’t get any better than Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach.

What is Pier 60?

Pier 60 extends 1,080 feet into the Gulf of Mexico, and a quick walk down the pier makes you feel like you’re hovering above the middle of the ocean. Walking down Pier 60, you’ll be surrounded by nothing but blue water, clear skies and plenty of fun activities to participate in. Pier 60 is home to playgrounds, slides, telescopes, a cafe and a fishing bait and tackle shop. Pier 60 is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year, so the fun never has to end.

What can you experience at Pier 60?

There is never a shortage of fun events at Pier 60, no matter the time of year. On New Years Eve, Pier 60 hosts the Light it up Clearwater Beach Fireworks Celebration. There are also fireworks celebrations on the pier for Easter and Fourth of July.

Further, Pier 60 is home to the one-of-a-kind Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, where sculptors create world class sand structures using Clearwater’s famous sugar white sand. Each year, the Festival has a different theme and includes plenty of vendors, a play area for kids and entertainment events every night.

Throughout the summer, Pier 60 hosts the completely free Sunset Cinema’s Summer Series, where a family-friendly movie is played on a jumbo screen every Friday night at 8:30 PM. There’s no better option for wholesome, summer fun for the whole family.

What else can you do at Pier 60?

Beyond family events, Pier 60 is home to an amazing fishing scene, with tarpon, silver trout, snook, flounder and snapper being some of the most popular fish caught. The best part, you do not need a license to fish at Pier 60 and you can keep what you catch. The Pier 60 Bait Shop will satisfy all of your fishing needs, and it even publishes a monthly fishing report online and showcases the Pier 60 Catch of the Week in store.

What’s the most beautiful thing to see at Pier 60?

Perhaps the most iconic thing about Pier 60 is its stunning sunset. Standing over the Gulf of Mexico and surrounded by water, you can be right in the middle of the action as the sky fades to pink and orange and the sun sinks into the horizon.

Once you see a Pier 60 sunset, you won’t be able to get enough. Lucky for you, the Sunset at Pier 60 Daily Festival runs every day from two hours before sunset to two hours after sunset and features live music, entertainers, arts and crafts vendors and more that is fun for the whole family, regardless of age.

If you can’t physically be at Pier 60 to catch the breathtaking sunset, no need to fret. You can always watch it on the Pier 60 Live Beach Cam. You can never catch enough sun and beauty, and Pier 60 is glad to be able to provide that to you whenever, even if you aren’t there.
