McGough Nature Park

Recreation Park for Naturalists
11901 146th Street North, Largo, FL 33774

Affectionally termed “The Turtle Park” by locals, our charming nature park is tucked in a patch of wilderness just across the Walsingham Bridge on the South entrance to Indian Rocks. It provides a network of turtle ponds and shaded walking trails which open up to boardwalks that hug the Intracoastal Waterway. The kiddos love visiting the large birds of prey housed in and around the nature center. Go inside and explore the indoor exhibits and don’t forget to purchase food to feed the turtles!

Housed in the original beach cottage and homestead of Mayor R.B. Johnson. Our history museum has rich and engaging exhibits depicting the evolution of our community. Explore relics left behind by the Tocobaga tribe and vintage photos from the 1950s; when all of Indian Rocks Beach was simply a quiet alcove of seaside cottages.

Kooky Coconut

Island Eatery and Shell Shop
760 Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785

Our one and only ice cream snack shop right on the beach. Look for the bamboo mosaic and thatched decor—it’s located within steps from the 8th Avenue beach access to the Gulf of Mexico. Repeat visitors rave about their savory hot pressed cuban sandwiches. You can do just as the local do: walk barefoot with your ice cream cone to beach.

Nekton Surf Shop

Local Outfitter and Board Boutique
1313 Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785

Just like family….Oh yeah, they are! Nekton Surf Shop opened in 2006 by famous Pro Surfer Cory Lopez (nephew of Gulfside Resorts owners Lee and Mary) who grew up here in our beach town of Indian Rocks Beach. This authentic surf shop run by Ashley Lopez (favorite niece) is VERY cool and tucked in along Gulf Boulevard. They carry men and women’s clothing, sandals, sunglasses, and accessories, as well as original Indian Rocks Beach souvenirs and clothing. Paddle-board, Kayak, surfboard, and skim board rentals are available year-round. The board room features all things surf, skim, and skate.

Splash Harbour Water Park

Small Scale Waterpark
399 2nd Street, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785

The park is located two blocks east of Sarah’s Seaside. Splash Harbour has two high water slides: one for tubing and one for sliding without a tube. There is a kid’s play area with smaller slides, a large swimming pool and a lazy river. It can definitely keep you busy all day. The beach and bay view is great from the top of the towers. Adjacent is a snack shack, Rum Runners, and Jimmy Iguana’s restaurant.

Old Florida Cigar & Bait

Fishing and Tobacco Goods Purveyors
1401 Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785

This place is the best for hand-rolled cigars, local advice on how to fish and which bait to use for the back waters versus the surf. They take the time to ‘hook you up’ with all the live shrimp and tackle you could ever need. Last year, one of our guests asked the owner what bait worked best for the beach and after following his recommendation caught a twenty-five pound Amberjack on his third cast!

Keegan's Seafood Grille

Seafood-Focused Casual Restaurant
1519 Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785

Any one who frequents Indian Rocks Beach knows that Keegan’s is where all the locals eat. It’s a smaller sized, family-owned seafood grille with quirky Florida decor, aquariums and a bar in the back. We like the fresh food, live music and the friendly staff but it’s probably best known for it’s debut on the hit TV show: Dives and Diners. The menu is full of fresh and zesty favorites like the ‘She Crab Soup’, the ‘Blackened Grouper Reuben Sandwich’ and ‘Parmesan Encrusted Grouper Cheeks’!

Nature Preserve

Public Park and Boardwalk
901 Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785

This hidden gem is a great spot for stretching your legs in the shade. The network of boardwalks takes you through a thicket of mangroves and opens up to a deck on the Intracoastal Waterway. You can spot Yellow Crowned Night Herons and Fiddler Crabs along with a variety of sea life. Our families often site pods of Dolphins at the edge of the bird island. The preserve entrance includes a cute fenced in dog park and a new community-led vegetable garden.
